Livesite out-of-box components.

Hi,

I want to use Livesite in conjunction with Teamsite.From the documentation provided for Livesite,components in Livesite can reference a file/form used for populating data records.
This will allow to pull the content residing in teamsite on to the webpage that is hosted through Livesite.
Do the default components provided by Livesite installation,support the implementation of the above feature.I tried the default components but could not find any to implement the above said feature.
Do we have to go for building custom components.
Any pointers/clue would be helpful.

Hi Santosh,

There is a component under samples called Book Form Entry. This component references a DCR create using the new form entry process for internet/book.

It will render the content from the actual DCR you configure in the component.

I think this will do what you need, if you need something else let me know.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried the Book form entry.It is configured to pick DCRs from category "internet" and datatype "book".

As a result it searches for the DCT to be present in the folder/workarea under which sites/pages are present.

For this reason I had to try out two options

Option 1)
Move the folder(templatedata) that contained the DCT under livesite store,where I could create the site and add the component "Book Form Entry" on the page associated with the site.

Option 2)
Create the site under the workarea that contained the DCT(internet/book) and add the component on the page associated with the site created.

I wanted to know is there any workaround,so that sites could still be created under Livesite store,with "book form entry" still pointing to the DCT/DCR under the default store.
If this cannot be done,are there any drawbacks/limitations with sites being created under default store.

Any pointers or clue would be appreciated.

I tried the Book form entry,but it refers to a form under the //servername/Livesite/main section,whereas my DCT/forms are stored in the //servername/default/main.
Is it that I need to copy the DCTs to the Livesite section or I have to create a new component(similar to book form entry) that will refer the required DCT/form.

I haven't worked with LiveSite - so this is a shot-in-the-dark, but as I recall from presentations the components are code and as such I believe the answer is the latter of the two you mention - copy & modify.

Just to clarify the DCR files will be under a non livesite store work area along with your sites/pages

If your editing the component you will need to set the site to one that is in the same work area as your DCRs are.

When you add the component to the page it will be able to have access to the DCRs that are in the work area.

When you deploy your pages to the runtime environment you will need also deploy the DCRs as well.
The runtime does not read the DCR’s from teamsite.
