Teamsite Search 6.5

Hi,

We have a requirement to configure search functionality to search under current branch and sub-branches below it. I believe there is a limitation in TS 6.5 regarding the same.

Is there any work around to solve this problem?

Can we use search API's?

Correct, TS 6.5 Search will allow searching from only one branch at a time. This is from the UI as well as APIs & CLTs.

Workaround (as developed by one of the IWOV customers) is to write a custom search interface using CSSDK APIs to execute individual searches for different branches and merging the results. You may want to do a thorough feasibility/performance analysis since you will be executing multiple search queries, one for each branch.

Alternative, add you company to FR, wait for a new release that might support searching multiple branches. I have no idea when this might be available, if at all.

You can use Search API (CSSDK), however the same limitation of single branch applies.

This means:
Once a user give a search criteria, do a normal search in current branch or workarea or directory. For sub-branches or sub-folders take search criteria as an input to custom code developed with search API. Query each sub-branch with search criteria and get result and merge it back to normal search result.

Is my understanding correct?

which documents should i refer or any whitepapers such an experience has been described?

Mutiple branch search has been released in the 2.0.0 and is for now is accessible from the CSSDK API's only. (not from UI or CLT)

any updates about teamsite 6.5 search tool?
we have our own asp search application but we are looking into using the built in search tool as we are upgrading to TS 6.5 SP2... basicaly we just need a tool that will take any criteria such as "wild character or card" and search all teamsite store? is it possible to do with teamsite search?

TS 6.5.2 Search is branch search only. So you cannot search the whole store at once.

You should restate your search criteria since it is not very clear. You can do full text search as well as for certain files or EAs.

In 6.7 the SDK has the ability to search over multiple branches (again not part of the GUI), but you can use that to further your search.

i went to interwoven site and i downloaded TS 6.5 search 1.0.0 and TS 6.5 SP2 Search for windows.

i thought there was 2.0.0 under TS 6.5?

can i use search 2.1.0 with TS 6.5 SP2?
is there a stand alone document just for the search tool?

Search 2.0.0 was released in tandem with TS 6.7.0; and Search 2.1.0 with TS 6.7.1. As far as I understood, you have to use the Search 1.0.0 SP2 with TS 6.5 SP2.

If Search 2.x works with TS 6.5, it certainly isn't advertised by IWOV.

This is correct . Please do not mix the versions as they are nerver tested not intendid to work as there are many internal changes in the search/teamsite communication and functionality.
