Adding new group members to branch and workareas
pranav
Hi,
I have created one Say ,
B1
, and then one workarea under this branch i.e.
WRK
.
At the time of creation i made this branch accessible to group
domain\iw_group1
. Now once this has been created i started to edit the group access.
This is how it went on ::::
Initial stage >> B1 with group iw_group1 and WRK also group permission iw_group1
>> Now, I am trying to change the group properties of WRK from iw_group1 to iw_group2 , but GUI throws me the error "NO SUCH GROUP".
>>Now, i am trying to change the properties of the branch >> editing the group name from iw_group1 to iw_group2 >> and it worked perfectly fine
without showing the cascading of group name on WRK.
Why ??
-Regards,
Pranav

Your post is not at all clear to me.
Perhaps you could rephrase it?
You create one - B1 - is that a user? Or is it a branch?
Based on the sentence after it, it must be a branch.
So, you have a branch, and a workarea. You also have a group, and you grant access to the branch to this group.
This is with standard operating system permissions I assume?
What operating system are you on? How did you create this group? Are you using active directory or LDAP for group management?
Then you say you get an error from the "GUI". What GUI are you speaking about? CC Pro, CC Standard? What version of TeamSite are you on?
Any specifics you can provide will greatly increase the liklihood that someone will be able to help you out.

Pranav..
By changing the group permissions on the branch, it does not automatically change the group for sharing on the workarea. You will have to explicitly change it. There could be multiple workareas with different groups for sharing in a branch and we cannot assume that there is a one-to-one mapping between the branch and the workarea. I forget if you are on TS 6.5 or not, but in TS 6.5 you could try using the iwchgrp CLT to change the group on the workarea.
thanks

Actually this would be a nice thing to be able to do in the GUI. I've run into it before where I've needed to change the group that has access to a workarea and If I could do it through the GUI rather than having to do it at a command prompt all the better.

In CCpro, if you have the administrative rights to do so - you can view the Properties of an area and change the group-for-sharing within that part of the UI
