Client machine time in TBO

Hi,

We have written a TBO for a custom type. When we save a document of this custom type TBO gets invoked.
I need the timezone of the client machine where we launch our Webtop(not Application Server) in the TBO methods.

Please help me on this.

As far as I know, this is not possible because TBO code is executed at the server. TBO code extends server-side calls, not client side (eg UI) calls. Therefore, you can get time at the client. Why are you trying to capture client side time? To me, this doesnt make sense b/c what if the client machine time is set incorrectly (in the past or worse in the future).

agree with Johnny, you can not achieve your goals with TBO. You will have to modify Webtop... there extensive code in Webtop for displaying and editing dates in the current time zone.... check out DocbaseAttributeValue source, in D65, it has static methods to convert a time from server to Client and client to Server

Actually we are applying watermaking through this TBO, example the pdf document would have "This document was opened 10:00 PM MST"

But we want the timezone to be that of client location (currently as the TBO is executing in server, it display the server time zone)

How is the content server going to know what time zone the end user is in? You can define timezone offset for the app server (eg Content Server in NYC and Web App is in London), but the server wont know where the browser is coming from. The browser could be in NYC, London, or anywhere else in the world.

I believe the timzone offset is being passed to Webtop as one of the paramters in URL (called dmfTzoff). You could potentially use this. I know TaskSpace (which is just another WDK app) uses this. I haven't used this before, but just a thought.
