workflow task Question

Annad

Hi,
I have a workflow which sends email to the author when there is an error in the file content.
Here is the order of the task associated with this.

ValidateDCR - validates the DCR for any error
RejectDCREmail - if any error, sends an email to the author
Rejected DCR - the user task for the author to work with after fixing the error.

In the RejectDCREmail task, I am sending an email to the author. I like to have a link to the TeamSite task list so that when the author clicks on it, it takes them directly to their task. I have a perl script that sends the email, but I am not able to get the task id of 'Rejected DCR' task which can be used in CCI url.

Is there any way that I can get this using the WFtask module of TeamSite or other means?

Thanks,
Anna

You can use TeamSite::WFworkflow. RTFM on GetTaskByName.

Hi Jeff,
what do you mean by "RTFM on GetTaskByName".
I tried it and it's not working.

At the time of the email process the task 'Rejected DCR' would have not been created since the email is sent and then is called back to the workflow in the email perl script. Is it possible to get the task id when it has not been even created?

Thx.

Anna, yes you can do all of this and Jeff's suggestion is a good one. To answer your first question I'll be kind and direct you to the Wikipedia:

Just use TeamSite::WFworkflow and TeamSite::WFtask modules. As per Jeff, get the ID of the task by using the method GetTaskByName("nextTaskName") and pass it in your mail body along with the following URL.

http://servername/iw/webdesk/task?taskid=########

Jeff,
Because you know a lot about TeamSite, that doesn't mean that you should tell me like that. You could have simply told me to refer to the manual.

I am sorry, but this is an indecent way of communication.

In Jeff's defense, "RTFM" is only sometimes intended to be as vulgar as the expanded words imply and if you're familiar with DevNet, hopefully his personality would indicate that he's probably not sincere about the "F". Fish, on the other hand, makes frequent use of the acronym above and when he uses it, I tend to think that his usage reads like "RTFM".

Nonetheless, I think Jeff was only observing word economy and probably didn't mean to be offensive. RTFM is, after all, an established expression. So much so that it made the Wikipedia!

Anna,

I apologize if you were offended, but it is a common acronym used on this site and many forums. It is used when people ask questions related to things they can easily get from the documentation. I told you exactly what to read the documentation about, which I believe was very helpful of me. I do not need to take the time out of my day to read these forums and help you, I am doing it as a favor to you. You are not paying me to help you, nor is anyone else.

I dont think so, while learning or geting something out, anyone has to care about the words. As the said Phrase is not said in the literal meaning. Moreover if you are not new to Devnet... you must have seen that in most of the threads.

Anyways just check out what exacty you are in need off and use the same.

Jeff,
I really respect what you are doing to help others. I really took it literally and I didn't like it.

Anyway, thanks for your help, i will see if it works.

Anna,

I was very surprised to see you didn't know what the acronym meant, you've been on devnet a long time. It is used often when telling people what documentation to read and I never mean it in an offensive way.

Good luck with your problem!

Anna's right, I suppose -- it's vulgar and often conveys a little more than what some intend.

So, what if we were to not use "RTFM" when referring to Interwoven's documentation but "RTFOSEMPBI" (which rolls right off the tongue, by the way)?

Jeff / Dave,

Sorry to intrude.... but i think we are getting off the track. Instead of streching the issue, make a period on that.

Also in future, we can only use the said phrase among the people who understand the feel behind; not the literal meaning.

I hope you all agree with me.
