In your theme\includes\iwpl.css file look for style name ".side-bar-item-header" - you can customize this selector to change the color i.e.
.side-bar-item-header
{
background-color:#ffffff;
color: #000000;
font-size:11px;
font-weight:bolder;
}
or
.side-bar-item-header a { color:black;} /* this is applicable to All anchor tag in sidebar section */
WSW comes with theme customization guide - that probably addresses this issue. In WSW 8.1 there will be indepth support for CSS. In fact you will be able to apply CSS even at folder level.

Do you have any other customzation? Adding following styles worked for me when I put in my default theme ( sky/includes/iwpl.css). I tested this with my installationof Worksite Web 8.0 SP1
.side-bar-item-header a
{
color:Red;
}
.side-bar-item a {
/* used for items of favorite/recent pages in sidebar */
color : red /* #39499C; */
}
This changed all my links in SideBar to "Red"
Let me know if you still have an issue
