TeamSite merge facility should be used for ASCII files ( java .jsp files ). I dont think TeamSite can merge binary files ( java .class files, Graphical .jpeg files, Photoshop .psd files, Microsoft Office .doc files).

You might want to look into Content Provisioning solution to see if that can be used to merget the .doc files.

You are correct. TeamSite can only merge text files (i.e. Perl, Java source, html, xml, etc.).
