sun cluster support

I think this is a no, but is Sun Cluster supported with TeamSite? Or, is it on the roadmap? The current GA Sun Cluster version is 3.1u4. The operations guys at are giving us a lot of grief for not having a vendor supported cluster/failover/ha solution for our cms system.

Even though it's not oficially supported, there are some ways to think about it.

I did take part in an implementation where we (together with Sun) managed to come up with a strategy ....There was some scripting involved - to switch boxes should one goes down. Also, one has to think how to failover the backing store,,,,

Even with official sun cluster support, the backing store is soo very fragile. Things would be soo much simpler if TeamSite could transactionally write to an offline (or readonly) slave. I know you can create a lazy slave using disk snapshots + iwfreeze, but since calls from CLT's and writes are blocked instead of queued, this can introduce really weird errors and user issues.

Last I talked to PM about this, I was told to talk to IWOV CSO about a custom solution. We already have one of those "solutions", and it does not help me sleep at night.

I also have confirmed the support of Sun cluster(Accurately, including Veritus Cluster etc...) to Interwoven Japan before.(about TeamSite6.5)
Interwoven Japan answered that
Even if you can achieve the function of the product on Sun Cluster etc... + TS ,
Interwoven did not guarantee operation when the products were combined.
Therefore, I have requested the support to become possible from the Interwoven Japan, early.
At present, there is no answer concerning this from Interwoven Japan.

I think it really depends on your SLA (service level agreement) with your customer. If the system is required to be up in 2 hours after a major failure, then some sort of manual intervention can occur. If the SLA is like 15 minutes, then with current technologies you may be SOL.

yeah.. and I delath with a system with a required uptime 24/7 .. try to do something here Smiley Surprised
