We have a scenario like this.
Migrating a DCTM 5.3 Docbase running on Windows server platform and sql 2000 to DCTM 6.5 which is already serving some docbases running on solaris and oracle 10g.
What will be the best way to achieve this migration.
Hi,
I can relate something that we came across when doing a 5.3 -> 6.5 repository upgrade that will hopefully be of assistance.
In order to ugrade you will need to go via 6.0, i.e. take 5.3 to 6.0 then 6.0 to 6.5.
We had to do this as we encountered some issues with the 6.5 scripts that assumed 6.0 'stuff' had been created.
This may no longer be an issues with the latest releases (we used 6.5 SP2) so it could be worth checking with EMC support.
With regard to migrating between back end databases there are a multitude of tools from companies like Crown, Bluefish & and TSG (http://www.tsgrp.com/) amongst others that can assist with migration.
You can upgrade directlty from 5.3 SPx --> 6.5 SPx.
No need for an intermediate step, i.e. go first to 6.0
SQL 2000 to Oracle 10g
Windows server 2000 to Solaris
Can i do a direct upgrade?
Though this scenario isn't directly addressed, this white paper discusses a lot of migration/upgrade scenarios: https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-1713
Thanks Scott.
Your white paper gave us some idea about migration between different plaltforms.
We are unfortunate that our requirement doesn't fit in your four scenarios.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
