Access question.

Hi All,

In one of the project that I am working on The documets been imported through KOFAX scanning system and all are pdf data. We have strange requirement, as data comes from scanning system, any changes to the content should be re-scanned and imported to Documentum through the release script. However, there is specific group should be able to edit attribute data associated with those objects.

I tried altering the basic permissions in ACL for the group, but nothing worked, I couldn't get the required level of access for the group.

How I can control group read only access to the content and read/write access to attribute data?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We are using D 6.5 SP1.

As far as I know, Documentum does not support this kind of behaviour. If you can modify content then you can modify (replace) the content too.

A solution could be that you separate your metadata to a registered table (a TBO could "replicate" the metadata to the registered table in the onSave method), and you should give read access on the object itself, and you could set the table permissions on the registered tables to grant write permission for the required group. Of course this implies development and GUI customization too.

I am able to implement required functionality. I provided write access to the group in my acl and I disabled the new, import, checkout, check-in actions in webtop using presets.
