how to pass a querystring from a CGI to the DCR

Hi I am trying to open a new DCR from a cgi perl script:
I am using
var contentType = "$newType";
var redirectUrl = "http://" + location.hostname + "/iw/webdesk/newdcr?area_path=$main_path&source=$source";
var windowName = "new" + contentType;
var windowSettings = "width=600,height=600,status=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes";
newWin = window.open(redirectUrl,windowName,windowSettings);

the question is how to parse the query string inside the DCr to get the value of the $source inside the DCR?

I haven't tried this, but you could probably just use javascript to parse location.search.

I think Nader is looking out to add a variable on his own in the querystring passed from a CGI, that too he can fetch its value within the newly created DCR.

From the documentation part, only help provided is to call a new form by passing two pre-defined variables; area_path and iw_tdt. What if we have to pass another variable along with say myVar? Also how to fetch the passed value within the DCR?

Instead of trying to create a new dcr via the CCI URL - programmatically create the DCR beforehand - and then use the *edit* CCI URL to fill in the remainder of the fields.

By programmatically creating the DCR you can pre-populate any field with any value that you want.

This is one of the reasons I find workflow-driven templating designs make sense over templating-driven workflow designs.
