Teamsite new user permissions problem

Environment - Teamsite 6.1 sp2
OS windows 2003 server
Open deploy 6.1

We have incorporated Windows groups for restricting access in a induvidual workareas for users on a single internet branch. The problem i am facing is that when i create a new user - either by adding him directly to the roles or using admin Gui And also adding him to the approriate windows group - The user cannot see the neccesary folder in his workarea.
I have to recreate his account after doing a iwuser -d -loc E::id no and then doing a teamsite reset -a . Once i do this the user doesnt have any problems accessing his folder .

Am i missing any settings? or any config fields need to be set?

History: we upgrated from teamsite 5.5.2 to 6.1 sp2 almost 6 months ago and this problem has been cropping up recently within the last few weeks.

Hi,

After adding the user via Teamsite's admin console, you need to tell the Teamsite server to add this user to its database eg. admin.uid or master.uid and make it available in the current servelet engine.

You can do the following to ensure this:-

1. Add the user in a normal way either by editing corresponding uid file or by adding him through admin console.
2. Run iwreset command on the command prompt. Or, you can restart the servelet engine and other services of Teamsite. But I suggest you to use iwreset command.

Is this a must feature for 6.1? i checked the documentation and it doesnt say anything about that part . Oh well we are goign to upgrade to 6.5 anyway so hopefully this wont show up ...

As far as I know, running iwreset after adding users to roles, adding users to groups, etc. has *always* been the recommended procedure - otherwise you have to wait for up to a minute (perhaps more) for the iwserver process to do its own periodic refresh.

iwreset (with no flags) causes iwserver to refresh its information regarding users - and is generally a pretty quick "cheap" operation to perform.

I am using perl code to create workarea and copy file from source to destination workarea, can I use this iwreset command in perl code after copying the files to new workarea to reset the permissions to the files.

What are the actual OS permissions on the file?
You can call iwreset from your Perl code - but I don't think you should have to - the previous response was with regard to adding users - not workareas and files.

i am using iwmkwa command to create workarea, and getting the owner and group permission from source branch and assigning to the newly created workarea using iwmkwa command.

But I am not able to edit the file in the newly created workarea.
I though i can use iwreset command to reset command permission to the file in newly created workarea.

can i directly use iwreset command or is there any another way to get permission.

As I stated before - iwreset is for re-reading iw.cfg / forcing refresh of the user / group cache information - this is not what you seem to be talking about.

Assuming the files are correctly copied into the new workarea ... what are the OS permissions on the branch, workarea, directories and files - relative to the user you are logged in as?

we are asked to use acls command to get the permissions to the files in the workarea.
Workarea is having all the permissions correctly but files and folders are not having the full permission.
so i used cacls command to set the permission for files and folders.

I am using command like below
system(cacsl path \T \E \G group:F),
with above I am able to set the permissions. but still i am not able to edit the files in a directory.
