Install.bat fails without error message
System
I recently setup a Windows 2003 server with SP1, then downloaded the installation files for TS6.5.0.0 (build 41240b). Upon running the executable the Teamsite subdirectory was created with the install.bat file included. When I try to run this it simply fails after a few seconds without any error message. I downloaded it twice in case of corruption, but got the same result.
Any ideas are much appreciated!

Just found my answer from a previous post. Guess I should have searched before posting...

===============
I found out that the problem was due to a recent OS "upgrade" to SP1 (Win 2003). Apparently, the new service pack likes to block software from running. NICE, HUH? Man, I hate Microsoft...
Anyway, it's working okay now.

Current Environment(s):
(1) TS 6.5 on W2K3
(2) TS 6.1 SP1 on W2K3
By the way, I miss Unix terribly.

I'm seeing the exact behavior you've described on an installation of TeamSite 6.1 on Win2k3 but I cannot find an earlier posting regarding the solution. Do you mind sharing what you did to get the installer going?
Thanks

I'm sure you all know the blurb regarding W2K3 being a more secure operating system yadder, yadder...
The issue here is related to a component called "Data Execution Prevention" and exists to stop any virus-like activity. Hence, the OS thinks the Teamsite setup kit is a virus, as it's unpacking and installing files that it doesnt know about.
Go to My Computer -> Properties -> Performance -> Settings -> Data Execution Prevention and add the setup kit to the list of allowed executables.

Excellent. Found the relevant thread and the KB article below resolved the problem.
