Hi ALL,

Any ideas how can i go for this, because this is an important part in my delivary.
Environment is TS : 6.5
on sun-solaris 8.

What exactly are you trying to do? Do you want to change the data type? Or do you just want to change the text that displays up there? I don't believe there is a supported way to do this, but you might be able to play around with some javascript to change the text.

I'm curious as to how this could be an important part of your delivery though...

Hi,

I Just Wanted to Display the the text "EDIT" which comes just before Data/type name.

Initially there was very complex process in our system for authors to simplify that we made three process, saying CREATE, DELETE AND CHANGE.
instead of that EDIT i need to display CREATE, CHANGE AND DELETE depending upon flow of content entry into the DCT.

This idea is to make better usability to AUTHORS.

Your suggestion is right, iam not getting how can i do this using JS, any ideas which i can acheive using JS will help a lot to me.

Sanjeev,

There are hacks and hacks. If I were you, I would approach the Client and
request to change or drop this requirement.

The component you are looking for belongs to "top.window.document". Problem is, TS generates
it as a cell in anonymous nested table (no Id, no Name). Therefore, you can not use DOM "getElementById"
function to find it and would have to hardcode corresponding ordinals. THAT is a practice to be avoided
at all cost, hack or supported code regardless.

Please note that code below has been tested in my current Env only, MS Win 2003, TS 6.5 SP1.
DOM implementation differs between browsers, that may not work on Netscape for example.

You've been warned...
Here is your Java Script for FormAPI:

var tables = top.window.document.getElementsByTagName("table");
tables[1].rows[0].cells[0].innerHTML = "Something Else";

Hi Boris,

Thank you very Much.

I got solid answer for my two questions from U.

I have another requiremnet to add a BUTTON just before FINISH Button or Save Button.
How can i write JS for this, JUSt as above you gave.

I tried This :

var body = top.window.document.getElementsByTagName("body");
alert("The Body is :" + body);
var table = top.window.document.createElement ("table");
var tr = top.window.document.createElement ("tr");
var td = top.window.document.createElement ("td");
alert("The Table Is :" + table);
alert("The TR Is :" + tr);
alert("The TD Is :" + td);
//body.appendChild(table);

The Last Line is throwing Exception.

After adding Button, i have to raise the Event to do some think on click of that.

Sanjeev,

I don't know where to start. Your code reflects much oversimplified approach, sorry.
Please note that Data Capture Page consists of multiple frames. The one you are looking
for is "datacapture_buttonframe", so top.window.document is a wrong place to begin with.

Further, what you are trying to do (if done correctly) will allow you to add your elements bar
above or below (for couple reasons it's easier to do above) button bar. That contradicts your stated
requirements, but still... You'll have to create it, format it (with TS or your own css, I guess) and place it
somewhere. All that way before you can think about adding functionality to it. So...

You have three alternatives, in the order of my personal preferences

1. Create CGI Callout(s) with button(s) INSIDE DCT. It's easy, it's supported, there are plenty
of info in TS Documentation and DevNET. If these components are shared between multiple types,
create inline script and include them where needed.

2. If you have to do it still in the standard bar, modify JSP generator. The one you're looking at
is "/iw-cc/formspub/datacapture_buttonframe.jsp". Needless to say, do not modify original jsp.
You'll have to create custom version and compile it using "make_toolkit.ipl ". See "User Interface CustomizationGuide"
for details.

3. Do it as FormAPI hacks. It's possible, it would be a lot of brittle code and it would fail without warning
upon applying patches, SP's, etc... In my opinion, waste of resources

Hope that helps

Hi,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion :

I think i used third option, like this, iam able to get button, the button is appering below FINISH and CANCEL.

I need this button parallel to FINISH and CANCEL, just before FINISH or Just before SAVE when i think in top part and one more think iam not able raise event on click if u help in this regard it would help a lot to me.

The code which i tried to get button is as below.

var mybody = top.window.document.getElementsByTagName("body").item(0);
mytable = top.window.document.createElement("TABLE");
mytablebody = top.window.document.createElement("TBODY");
mycurrent_row = top.window.document.createElement("TR");
mycurrent_cell = top.window.document.createElement("TD");
var input = top.window.document.createElement("INPUT");
input.setAttribute("type","button");
mycurrent_cell.setAttribute("valign","left");
mycurrent_cell.setAttribute("align","center");
input.setAttribute("value","Preview");
input.setAttribute("onClick","javascript:parent.getScriptFrame().fnpreview();");
mycurrent_cell.appendChild(input);
mycurrent_row.appendChild(mycurrent_cell);
mytablebody.appendChild(mycurrent_row);
mytable.appendChild(mytablebody);
mybody.appendChild(mytable);

The final thing i need is, it should come in proper place and i should be able to raise an event.

Sanjeev,

I warned you, you're in for much more than you bargained for.
Since you do not want to listen, here goes:

// Create TDl
var mycurrent_cell = top.window.document.createElement("TD");

// Populate Cell
var input = top.window.document.createElement("INPUT");
input.setAttribute("type", "button");
input.setAttribute("value", "Preview");
input.setAttribute("onClick", "alert('Hello');");
mycurrent_cell.appendChild(input);

// Place Cell
var tables = top.window.document.getElementsByTagName("table");
var newCell = tables[7].rows[0].insertCell(0);
newCell.setAttribute("class", "iw-base-button-left");
newCell.innerHTML = mycurrent_cell.innerHTML;

Please note that:
1. "Finish" and "Cancel" are not browser buttons but rather clickable images
created by iw_wizard_doFinish and iw_wizard_doCancel Functions. That makes for inconsistent
look and feel, I have neither time nor desire to play with this useless cosmetics.

2. You do not need Event raising in this case, just call your own function with desired functionality.
I used alert('Hello') in my sample.

Good luck, you'll need it

Little Correction - "Finish" and "Cancel" buttons are not images,
but clever formatting of links
