I have question about DFC

I am develope c#.net call dfc.dll to import image to documentum.

my program execute to 7600 record it's error message "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"

Please help me slove this problem.

and I want to know this error is from Documentum server or my client application.

1) flush method (from javadocs)

           throws DfException

Removes cached queries from the client's query caches, ACLs and Group objects from the session cache, and type information from the data dictionary cache.

Use this method when you want to remove your query cache files or when you want to make additional memory available to your server. When you create large numbers of objects in one session, you may receive an error from the server indicating that it is out of memory. One possible cause for this problem is that ACLs and group objects have been over-cached, causing the session cache to become too large. To resolve this, run the flush method to empty the session cache.

Refer to the Server Administrator's Guide for more information about removing content from local areas.

Parameters:

flushType - Identifies the cache that you want to flush. Valid values and their meanings are:

 Value                  Meaning
 querycache             User's query cache
 aclcache               ACLs in the session cache
 groupcache             Group objects in the session cache
 ddcache                Data dictionary cache
 persistentcache        Persistent cache
 persistentobjectcache  Persistent object cache

cacheKey - The name of an object type. Use this optional parameter only if ddcache is passed to flushtype. Note that all data dictionary information for the specified type and all of its subtypes is flushed. If no argument is passed to this parameter, information for all object types in the data dictionary is flushed.

Throws:

DfException - if server error occurs

2) I think you should also call flush('aclcache',null) and flush('groupcache',null).

I had done by your advice but it not work.

Could you please give me more advice about java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

After testing program at 4 clients, a number of import is around 7,600 records. I'm not sure why isn't nearly 20,000 records as I tested.

Is it from "Heap space problem" or "Documentum server"? Can we add heap space or not ?

Please kindly advise me for solve this problem.

Process in my program.

1. I am read index file.

2. Create structure folder from index file

3. Import image to documentum , set attribute , set permission

have you heard of google? perhaps you might put "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space" into the search box and using some of the suggestions given by that.

Typically when a java program runs out of memory it will crash and die, which has unfortunate consquences like data loss. in your case about 14,400 records

You migth also, in your .NET app to force some garbage collection (can;t remember the syntax out of my head but as Brian said, Google is here for that)
