DFS Control Upload w/UCF

Hi, I'm using the productivity layer to upload documents in .NET with UCF.

I want to know if is it possible to control or just watch the quantity of bytes sent to the server while uploading, checking out or viewing a document, like the native download control of mozilla or internet explorer.

I don't think it is possible.

The DFS operations are atomic (create, update, checkin, etc), you cannot get info back from it.

The UCF client is another, independent process in the operating system which is doing the content transfer in the meantime, you cannot get info back from it, or at least it is not documented in any way... And as far as I know, UCF client process is not aware of how many files it will have to serve, it's just a "socket" (more threads with error correction) for the UCF server side to stream the file from/to the server.

That doesn't help either as you don't get any information on progress.

The only progress bar you can show is that in case of multiple files to upload/download you call the DFS operations one by one, so you know when it had started, when it had ended and how many files are left. The drawback of this solution is of course that you lose the capability to do the operation in a transaction, so you may need to do a "manual rollback" if required.

The only way to show to the user that the upload is still working would be showing a "Waiting" pop up until it finishes.

The problem is that when is a large file, it could take 3 or 4 minutes to upload and the user thinks that there is a problem with the transaction.
