Disable Metadata Capture based on the file type

May I know is it possible to disable metadata taging based on the filetype. For instance I don't want to tag metadata for .gif, .jpeg, & DCR files.

AFAIK, there is no sensible way of doing it. if you are running iwmetadata.cgi in a workflow, one could use a workaround - temorarily detach unwanted files (save their list in a temp file), tag, and then reattach.
