Provide administrator access - Superuser unknown

Hi All,

I am facing a peculiar problem.

We use Documentum 6.5. In our dev environment I had to deploy some new methods and configure some jobs. But the 'Administration' node in DA is not expandable. I understand that the list will be shown only to Super user or the current user should be added to administrator access set.

For both the solutions, I need to login as super user. We have a super user id, but none knows the password. The application were developed 3 years back and now I am making some customisations.

Is there any way I can add the current user I am using to admin access set? Please help me.

check whether trusted authentication is enabled in your repository or not.

If enabled, you can login into content server machine and open IDQL where you dont need to provide password..

After that create a new user account or change the password of existing user account..

Another thing to verify is check whether the super user is using inline password or domain password or local systems password.. if not inline password you can reset the password easily..

First solution:

I didn't know how to check whether Trusted auth is enabled or not. I went and executed the idql32.exe anyway with the super user account without password. It said 'Authentication Failed'. So it means trusted auth was not enabled, so this option is ruled out.

Second:

As I cant login into DA as superuser, I cant see the 'Administration' node. As far as my knowledge I can see what password (inline / domain) the user is using is under 'User Management' under Administration node. As I cant login as super user I cant see this too. Is there any way I can check this information? Kindly let me know.

Would you please have a look at this issue? This person "Alexandra Larsson" keeps sending irrelevant messages to this post, which increments the reply counts.

Also his answer somehow marks my question as "Possibly answered", which will definitely restrict me getting proper responses from genuine users, as they might think the question is answered and skip.

I reported abuse for more than 3 times but I keep getting responses from him. Now I cant report abuse anymore because the page throws "Unexpected Exception".

Please do the needful to avoid this SPAM.

Hello Hari,

I just checked the dm_user table and the 'user_source' column for the superuser is empty. (Not LDAP or inline password). So it should be 'OS' one. COuld you please guide me how can I reset the password?

Hello, you need to login on Content Server machine and change password for user with corresponding name (user in documentum are referenced with OS user with user_os_name attribute of dm_user object)

Yes I got the user_os_name. Where in content server machine should I change the password? I mildly remember that its in Control Panel > Adminstrator Tools > Computer Management > System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users. Is it correct? Because I dont see my super users listed here. Please guide me.

Yes, you're right.

Make sure, that you are searching by user_os_name.

If you will not find it, check your authentication mode

(SELECT auth_protocol FROM dm_docbase_config)

If the repository is in the default mode, this property is blank. If the repository is in the domain-required mode, this property’s value is domain-required.

If repository is domain-required mode - read Documentum Content Server 6.5 Administration Guide page 317. There is complete reference about authentification.

Hi Sergi,

Yes this superuser has default authentication mode. I couldnt see my super user in Computer Management.

The current user id I am using has 'SYSADMIN' privileges. But still I couldnt expand the Administration node in DA. I dont know how to go the next step like how to add this user to Administrator set as I dont have super user password.

Could you let me know if there are any other workarounds to get into the Administration node in DA?

Are you using pure documentum administrator? or it had been customized?

I think, it would be usefull to read about Administrator access sets.

Refer to Documentum Administrator User Guide, chapter 17.

Also, check your user's client capability. Make sure it is at least coordinator
