How to Clone the Content Server

Hi All,

Clone the Content Server and Repositories from Production Server to UAT Server.

How can I clone the Content Server and repositorie to UAT Server. Please share your knowledge with me.

Content Server Environment

Operating Server : Windows Server 2003 SP2

Data base client: Oracle 10.2.0.4

Content Server Version : 6.5 SP2

Dabaserver Environment

Daba Server : Oracle 10.2.0.4

Operating Server : UNIX

Hi Jagadish,

Have you had a look through the chapter "Creating a repository copy to test an
upgrade" in the Content Server Installation Guide? That is a good place to start.

Couple of years back, we were in need to clone the production repository to apply fix to a problem reported by user. We couldn't replicate in Dev environment due to lack of data, so we are forced to clone the production repository. We followed below steps, I am not sure whether it is best way to do it or not, but it worked for us

- Created VMWare instance, installed content server on new VMWare host and used same repository id that of production

- After sucessful installation, stopped all services

- Dump the production database and load it into database used in new installation

- Copy the %DCTM_HOME%\data directory of production repository and to data directory on VMWare host

- Restart the server and I could able to see all data to perform tests.
