Installing Documentum 6.6 developer edition on Win Server 2008R2 with SQL Server 2005/08R2

Hello,

This is my first time trying a documentum product.

I wanted to setup the developer edition of documentum 6.6 on my Windows Server 2008R2 system with SQL Server 2005 ( also, if possible, 2008 R2)

I fullfilled all the pre-requisites and followed the installation guide provided as part of the installation package.

All the installation process goes fine up to a point where the installer tries to configure the content server. It halts on the status message "Creating connection broker and repositiry".

I've attached the installation log file.

Any suggestion/idea how to overcome this hurdle is greatlly appreciated.

Windows Server 2008 R2 has lot of security enabled by default

Turn off the Windows Firewall (if this is only a development server) and try again

Thanks for your suggetion parasj.

The machine is used as a development box and windows firewall is turned off for all profiles (public, private and domain).

So the issue seems to be elsewhere.

Have any other idea I may try?

I had similar issues with xCP 1.0 Developer Edition on Windows 2008 x64 in the Amazon EC2 environment

The mistake I had made was to enable Active Directory services on the Windows server before trying to install Documentum xCP - as doing this tightens the security configuration of the server

Because of this I had to re-do the installation several times - getting stuck at different points.

When I hit the error you are facing - from memory I had to turn off the Windows Firewall to get around the problem.

R2 edition of Windows Server 2008 has even stronger security - so the problem you are facing will most likely be because of some security configuration that is hindering the Documentum installer.

Do you have enough RAM (>4GB) and CPU (dual-core or more) capacity etc. on the server - just to be sure that that is not causing the problem in any way?

Hi All,

I am facing a problem with the same installation. I am trying to install Developer Edition 6.6 on a Windows 2008 Server R2. The installer runs fine till "Creating connection broker and repository" and then fails at 43% with the error...

I consulted the logs in %DM_HOME%/install/install.log to find the following error:

0 [Thread-1] WARN com.documentum.install.shared.common.services.DiLogger - Failed to load log4j.properties. Using default log4j configuration

77079 [Runnable bean context: Di WA Server Test SQL Server Case Sensitivity (TestSQLServerCaseSensitivity)] ERROR com.documentum.install.server.common.beans.wizard.action.DiWAServerTestSQLServerCaseSensitivity - The installer failed to test case-sensitivity for the SQLServer. Error:

'-n' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

operable program or batch file.

The setupError.log from the setup directory had the information given below... I tried this again on a Windows 7 64bit machine and faced the same issue. Windows firewall is turned off and I have created the DSN using C:\Windows\sysWOW64\odbcad32.exe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been struggling for a while now without much progress.
