adaptor to calculate Date difference

Hi all,

I have two date fields in my form, and the third field returns the difference( number) between the two dates entered by the user. Does this come under validator adaptor? if so, how do I validate / calculate the difference between the dates and display in the 3rd text field.

I gess you working with Taskspace forms, not with "simple" Electronic form. Or I am wrong?

Process Builder works with DateTime variables, not Date. Create a Date variable in PB and try in Forms Buider to bind it to the Date control. This is impossible.

So. To your question. In theory, you can use the DATEDIFF function in data source adaptor.

You can try dql like this:

SELECT 'yes' as z FROM dm_docbase_config WHERE DATEDIFF(day, DATE('${input_date1}', 'mm/dd/yyyy hh:mi:ss'), '${input_date2}')<10

But because of the bug you cann't do that. Unfortunately

You will get the error like this:

"Error executing adaptor: 1 date() DfException:: THREAD: [ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '5' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'; MSG: [DM_QUERY_E_DATE_FORMAT]error: "The specified date literal (2010-11-14T15:02:00Z) is not in a recognized format, or is out of the valid date range."; ERRORCODE: 100; NEXT: null"

But you can pass over this problem with two ways.

One is to write your own adaptor based on DocbaseDataSourceAdaptor, which will transform DateTime to Date and calculate the difference normally.

The second way is not quite official and EMC will not support it. You can transform the DateTime field to Date field in the XForm (not by Forms Buider, you must do that directly to XForm). And after that the dql mentioned above will work correct.

I am working with simple Electronic form. And yes, I think I ll have to write a custom adaptor code. However, I'm not understanding, how exactly to get the date value entered by the user in 2 different fields, and based on that display the difference in another field. Can the custom adaptor code refer to a value(values) from another field?

Yes, of cource the custom adaptor can refer to another field. But I am not a programmer so I cann't say how to do this.
