DFS Custom Service consumption problem

Hi All,

I have created a webservice in DFS using QueryService. The service is running from the dctm side, as i checked using a Java client.

But when anybody tries to access the same service using soap messages through wsdl, they get an error.

Can somebody help with a checklist for what and all I need to be sure for them to be able to access my service.

I am relatively new to DFS, so kindly assist me on the same.

What is the error the SOAP clients receive?

Looks to be a packaging/deployment issue.

The error is "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" which means that the web server cannot find one or more of the classes it requires.

Have you included all the core files required by a DFS package, i.e. dfc.jar etc.

Hi Andy,

Once I finished creating the service these are the steps I followed, kindly let me know incase am missing out on anything:

1) exported the service with dfs-client.xml and a properties file that is used in the service.

2) copied the <modulename>.ear and <modulename>-remote.jar file to the deploy folder in JMS

3) copied the .class file of the service and the generated class files under Web Services/bin/gen-src under the <content server> name to the dba/java_methods in the content server.

4) Stop and Start the JMS.

I am getting the same error again.

NoClassDefFoundError can occur when DFS (server side) cannot find a dfc.properties file.

when we create the service ear, do we need to add the dfc.properties file ? i added dfs-client.xml.

You should, at least a dfc.properties file which includes another one (#include C:\Documentum\config\dfc.properties), because a service can be used in "local" mode, where dfs-client.xml is omitted but the dfc.properties is used, as it uses plain DFC calls.

It was a packaging issue. Deployed it again with changes in content transfer profile. It worked.
