XCP xcellerator not launcing with JBoss after successful installation.

Hi Friends ,

I have successfully installed the xcp installer using the 'Documentum_xCPD_1.5_windows_sql.zip' from the powerlink. (The installation is quite similar to the Developer Edition of Documentum 6.5 with respect to problems faced. Still the passwords entered using the custom option need to be without special characters else it gives out DiWAOEMCONFIGURATIONEXECUTABLEScripts failed. I tried without the special characters the second time and it worked.)

But my problem with xCP is that it is not launching using the bundled in JBOSS 4.3.0.

The following is the error seen as i run run.bat for Jboss

Apparently it tries to look for C:\Documentum\jboss4.3.0\server\production\conf\jboss-service.xml . The directory is non existant in my JBoss folder.What could the possible reason for its exclusion?

I am able to see the installed Documentum entities as seen below.

I would really appreciate if some one could suggest a solution to this.

Hello there, I removed the "xCelerator" tag from this document as it applies to the the installation of xCP and not an xCelerator. This will help others find your post and answer it sooner. Let me know if you have any questions! -Manni

Hi Vishnu!

Why you running the run.bat for Jboss? xCP Developer Edition starting by a few services. Have a look at Control Panel->Administration->Services. You will find there:

Documentum Docbase Service documentum
Documentum Docbroker Service Docbroker
Documentum Java Method Server
Documentum Master Service
SQL Server (DOCUMENTUMDB)
SQL Server VSS Writer

By default, the startup type for all them is set to Automatic. And all of them must be running. If not, you must start Documentum Master Service and it will starts rest. After that open Welcome page from (it is on your second screenshot).

By the way, you can set Manual as stratup type for the Master Service. After that you can start the DevEdition when you want it.

Did you have the xCP DevEdition Install Guide?

Hi Konstantin,

Thanks you for your reply. I was forced into checking out the JBOSS manually since the clicks through the Welcome page for the Grants management appliaction gave me a page not found error. I do have the instalation guide and chose a Win2k3 server environment with service pack 2 keeping in mind the basic software requirements.

A few months back i had successfully installed the Webtop 6.5 in a similar manner and the clicks on the links on its Welcome page opened up the Webtop login page. I was looking forward to something similar here too as you have mentioned in your reply. But it was the page not found error that prompted me to see whether the bundled in JBOSS was intact.Apparently it has something missing which i infer from the error command prompt screenshot in my post.

I had checked the documentum services post installation and all were up and running.

I am trying to give it a second try by uninstalling and then installing.

Could i be missing something still?

May be the applictions doesn't have enough time to deploy?

In my environment (CPU Intel Core2 Duo 2.00 GHz, RAM 3Gb, WinXP Pro SP3) it takes some times up to 15 minutes to full start.

Check DmServerOemService.log, which is located in the $Documentum\oem.

Also you can check by this way: look in the TaskManager for process Java.exe with large memory allocation (about 1 Gb). Did you have it?

Well after hours of scrambling for reasons for unsuccessful installations, i decided to format my machine and start a fresh . ..And it worked.
