Bug? Directory Submit

Someone asked me to check the following functionality he has people at another customer.. This work on 5.5 as you would expect (at least he's told and I don't have 5.5 to check) I checked at my customer.

Create a new or modify a file in a sub directory.

Go to the parent directory and click submit to start a workflow.

The directory itself get's sent through the workflow in 6.5 where as in 5.5 it sends the files? I have checked this with the standard configurable_default_submit wft, and also the author submit.

Can anyone tell me if there is a work-around for this? or if it's a bug/feature?

This is using CCP on 6.5 windows and solaris are the same.

Are you certain that the file is not getting submitted ?

IIRC, everything ends up submitted, even though only the directory shows up in the task list.

Sorry... everything does submit... what I'm talking about is what is displayed in the Workflow for the attached files. It only displays the directory name, and not the individual files. I thought the way 5.5 was (and this is from another customer who has a case open - not my client) and it looks like before it used to display the files individually?

Or has the functionality changed?

That I do not know.,

One point to figure out. I *think* that if you do a getFiles() from a wfttask, it wil return the files.
If it does not, then it is a huge bug.

If so, then it is a display issue that will be a fairly low priority bug (or even a planned change,
but that is IMHO, doubtful)

Are you using email ? Do the files show up there ?

In my email script it says directory. I will have to see about the get files command. Thanks for the idea.

even if it is in the email, that is (should be) a bug. Very hard to approve like that. If the
file do not show up in getFiles, then it certainly will break a number of workflows out there.
I have written a number of external tasks that will not work like that.

Hmmm, come to think of it, new consulting opportunities.

While this can be done, I checked and the cc.std functionality is different and works. So is it possible to change the submit from the cc.pro UI to use the cc.std's submit functionality... and if so what happens if I just change the submit command :-)

I'm having the same problems. If you succeed in changing the submit from cc.pro to cc.std, can you let us know? I'm going to try what Support suggested with the iwlistmod.

My recollection of TS 5.5 is that the files in a directory don't get automatically added as part of the payload.
I know this is true of more recent versions.

In fact I can see many circumstances where this would highly undesirable.
eg: top lvl directory of a site adding 10K files to a workflow file list.

I've always had to write external tasks that expand directories into subsidiary files for attachment to a workflow.
Generally, an operation of the type find dir -type f and parse the output into an array.
Then put the files into the Workflow by doing an AddFile();

I don't ever recall the default behavior of a workflow with a directory attached, expanding itself. Though I don't use ccstd very much at all.
Good Luck with support, but I don't think this is a bug.
In fact like a I said I hope they don't fix this behavior as the default, because it would break some of my workflows.

You could be right... since there is no longer a submit direct this may be the best behavior. I may have to do like they say and just place it in some of the workflows, but not all of them...

That or create a submit button # 2 :-)
