FTP Delivery Adapter
lj1958
A few questions about the FTP Delivery Adapter for Open Deploy.
From page 419 of the OD User's Guide: "The FTP adapter configuration file can reside anywhere on the target host."
The target host would be the machine that has the "listening" software on it, right? Which is then supposed to forward on the files if everything is configured correctly?
I have a bunch of files gonng to the "target host" and the ftp config file is sitting on that machine as well. So far, so good? The files deploy to the target host, but then don't go to the ftp server. The path to the config file should be correct, because it's close to the path of the files deploying to the target host. But either the config file is not being found, or there's something wrong with the config.
Here's my code to get to the FTP config file:
<odAdapterSet>
<odAdapter name="ftp" class="com.interwoven.od.adapter.
delivery.ftpadapter.IWftpAdapter" parameter="D:\Program Files\WebSphere\AppServer\installedApps\herculeswas\WC_demo.ear\Stores.war\StatesNet\sscInfo\ftpDeployConfig\ssctest.cfg" />
</odAdapterSet>
(That's in the bottom of the target area)
My ftp config looks like this:
Host=00.00.00.00
User=username
Password=passwordname
TargetDir=/htdocs/test/opendeploy
Tried with quote marks and not, with a trialing slash at the end of the TargetDir, etc. everything I can think of. Nothing's working. The rest of the deploy, to the target host, works fine.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
did you get any error messages in a log file (on OD sender or receiver)?
Only idea: try to put your config file into a directory without a blank in its path...

After some testing I could say, that a blank in the path is not the problem.
It functions well on my system.
To check your config:
you have a OD config xml on your sender.
you have a ftpadapter config on your receiver.
there's no break in the connection between OD receiver and ftp server (firewall...).
Right?
There's a ftpadapter log on your OD receiver named odconfigname.defname...ftpadapter.log,
try to get some more information out of this logfile.

Thank you, stefanmaier..
I'll be checking the ftpadapter log, and also seeing if there's any communications-related errors I can post from the deployment testing logs.

Well, there is on ftp adapter log on the OD receiver, leading me to further suspect that the failure has to do with not being able to accmplish ftp, and this makes me wonder if there are configuration issues beyond OD that need to be activated in order to use the ftp adapter. May be a dumb comment, but possibly having something enabled on the OD receiver box? A port or something?
