Getting input from user in midway of the workflow
milind
Hiii
We have a workflow in which tasks are as below
1)Author sends a content for review to editor
2)Editor reviews it and sends it to next reviewer if reqd.
3)Reviewer reviews it and gives his/her comments to editor.
4)Editor deploys the content to web server or ends the workflow.
Now, the requirement is, Editor should be able to select a reviewer (from a dropdown box) when the content comes to him for review(step #2).
How can we achieve this.
Thanks & Regards
Milind

You need a cgitask for selecting the review.
The cgitask can, once a reviewer is selected, change the owner of the Review task (which has to have some de-facto owner set to begin with) before transitioning.
So - the editor task can either be a usertask followed by an immediate cgitask - or it can be entirely a cgitask.

Thanks fish,
I will try this and let you know if I face any difficulty.

I've implemented something similar in a few workflows. Some bits I have found:
1) Make sure the 'initial' user has access to the workarea in question. We have used a generic master user that has access to all areas. The workflow then changes this user to be a specific user.
2) Make sure the user list is valid, and the users that appear in the selection list have access to the workarea. If they don't, an ugly error message will appear.
3) If the approver may select another approver, you must also change the next cgi task to the user as the user is selected.
4) If you are setting grouptasks, then you open another can of worms. (Workable, though very ugly.)
