migrating entity database

Anyone have any experience migrating an entity database from one server to another? That is currently the biggest thorn in the side of our clustering solution. It seems like copying the files from one server to another isn't right because there is some server-specific stuff in there. Anyone had success doing this?

I would not use it

Either turn it off or configure it to use Oracle or something else

Are talking about the event database? That one is already switched off. I was referring to the entity database which stores user profiling information like bookmarks, most recent view, etc. Is there a way to store this in an external SQL database?

We are interested in placing our entity DB on a shared disk, so that our primary and backup servers can read it. Has anyone done this before? Is this just a matter of copying the directory and then changing the location in the IW.cfg file?

Nothing like that is supported by Interwoven. We are working on a solution based around the iwprop command-line tool which involves writing a custom script to migrate user properties one at a time. If you can get it to work, please post your solution here!
