Regarding INBOX customization

Hi,

Iam trying to customize inbox of the webtop.My requirement is to add a new element same as INBOX where it can have all the notifications of all the users,Could you let me know what is piece of java code that i need to modify to get my functionality...Looking for a reply ASAP.

If I understand you correctly you want to create a new kind of inbox that displays all of the users notifications.

Here are some pointers:

Create your own custom component (based on the existing inbox component, both java, jsp as component xml)
If you want to fetch all of the users notifications, i assume you need an admin/superuser account to retrieve them.
- This means you'll have to hardcode it somewhere (properties file preferably)
Even when you display all of the users notifications for a specific user, you probably won't be able to let that user do stuff with the notifications that aren't meant for him.
- You could 'disable' or grey out the notifs that aren't meant for that specific user or something

I can create custom component, but the thing is as you mentioned

->one should have a super user privileage to get all the notifications,my criteria is what is java code that needed to be implemented to get that functionality.

->And one more thing is super user should check specific user inbox, to check whether there are any pending tasks.

Assuming you have a properties file called superuser.properties that looks like this:

dctm.superuser.login=dmadmindctm.superuser.password=dmadminpassword

and assuming it is located inside the jarfile inside a folder called resources, you can do it like this:

//ESTABLISH A SUPERUSER SESSION

IDfSessionManager suSessMgr = DfClient.getLocalClient().newSessionManager();

IDfLoginInfo login = new DfLoginInfo();
login.setUser(suLogin);
login.setPassword(suPassword);
login.setDomain(null);
sessionMgr.setIdentity(docbase, login);
        
IDfSession suSession = sessionMgr.getSession(docbase);

//do stuff with the superuser session

//...


//don't forget to close the superuser session when you have done everything
suSessMgr.release(suSession);

I think you have to extend com.documentum.webtop.webcomponent.inbox.InboxClassic and override the method updateDatagridControl().

In that method you have to modify the query that fetches the notifications.

I don't know exactly how notifications are retrieved for a user, but it is done with a query.

This is a little tricky because the InboxClassic component calls an SBO to build/perform the query.

This SBO is com.documentum.services.workflow.inbox.IInbox

To see the query in the component you do the following:

String oldQuery = getInboxService().getInboxQuery(); 
//This is the normal query, the one you will have to edit or replace

After you have created your own query to fetch all the notifs for all the users you want, you have to give the new query to the Datagrid control (more specifically its DataProvider).

Datagrid datagrid = (Datagrid)getControl("__DATAGRID_CONTROL_NAME", com.documentum.web.form.control.databound.Datagrid.class);

DataProvider provider = datagrid.getDataProvider();

provider.setDfSession(getDfSession()); //might be neessary, i'm not sure
provider.clearResults();
provider.setQuery(result);

//the next part might not be necessary but i don't recall exactly
int currentPage = provider.getCurrentPage();
if (currentPage != -1)
{
     provider.initBind();
     provider.setCurrentPage(currentPage);
}

EDIT: this might contain some errors and this probably needs some finetuning, so don't just copy this and assume it will be flawless.

It should be located at /System/Modules/SBO/com.documentum.services.workflow.inbox.IInbox.

There you can find 2 jars (inbox.jar & inbox-impl.jar). You only need inbox.jar.

In fact, I don't even know if you actually need the SBO. You can get the query without actually importing the SBO in your class (like i did in my example).
