Create a new version with dfc without downloading the doc

Dear Developers,

I want to update a document in documentum, creating a new version of the document. The data is available in my code as a Byte-Array.

So what I did was checkout, checkin (there the new version is created) and then I use setContent to set the new content. This works, but in checkout the document is actually downloaded to my computer, which I do not need. Is there a way around this?

You can use the example of below DQL to set next level in version tree

update dm_document  object set i_antecedent_id = '<r_object_id of the previous version>'

How are you doing the checkout?, Are you using operations?

The checkout() method if IDfSysObject should only place a lock on an object and should not transfer the contents.

Do you have a snippet of code showing what you are doing?

For myself a simple outline would be (and excuse syntax errrors as I'm typing from memory)

IDfSysobject obj = ... // get pointer to object

obj.checkout(); // add a lock to the object

obj.setContent(...);

obj.checkin(false,"new version"); // new version etc
