Can EA for a given DCR be set onSave time using the value o fone of its required field? If so, how?

No, you'll have to do it onSaveDone, as the DCR does not exist until the DCR has already been saved. Just do a callServer to a script that writes the EA(s).

Why do you need the EA set? Could it happen at a later point in the processing, or is it even needed?
