Forms builder - data source adaptors with Input Binding to a repeating/multi-valued attribute

Business Requirement

Record multiple addresses (in the meta-data) against a document

User Interface

3 drop-down lists in a TABLE control (see screenshot)

drop-down list 1 = data-source adaptor to load all countries

drop-down list 2 = data-source adaptor to load all regions in the selected country

drop-down list 3 = data-source adaptor to load all suburbs in the selected region

Issue

The Input binding of region and suburb drop-down lists works fine as long as the 3 drop-downs are bound to SINGLE-VALUED data items

If we make these data-items repeated by adding the 3 drop-downs to a TABLE control (since the requirement is to be able to add multiple addresses) - the Input Binding stops working

When the type of a input parameter is specified at the time of creating a data-source adaptor in Forms builder - there is no option to specify a 'repeating input parameter'.

Hi,

This particular scenario is not supported unfortunately. If you refer to the release notes you'll see the following:

Table with repeating row and two controls where values in the second depend on the value in the first does not function correctly (165768/FRM-98) When you have a table with a repeating row that includes two controls where the values in the secondcontrol depend on the value in the first control of each row, the value of the second control on everyrow actually depends on the value of the first control in the first row. This is incorrect. However, thisis a known limitation due to how a repeating table is designed.

Now that said, you can work around this by using a combination of other controls, adaptors and invoke buttons, something like the following should work fine (depending on the context):

• You would do the drop downs as usual.
• The insert button would be bound to a custom action that concatenates its three first input parameters (country, region and suburb) into one item and appends it to its fourth item (the data feeding the read only table) which is returned and bound to the data item (alternatively you could populate a regular table with labels instead of drop downs and levrage the existing removal function).
• Then you would need a custom adaptor that displays these values in the read only table.
• And finally a custom action that removes a selected item from the data item that feeds your table.
