The Documentum Developer Community discussion forum is primarily intended for questions and discussions around best practices for implementing Documentum products and architecting applications around those products.
To report a product malfunction, a feature that appears to be broken, or difficulty using a feature as documented, the best place to go is the Documentum Support Forum. The Support Forums are monitored by a group of assigned moderators. These are Support staff who are subject matter experts and trained in forum moderation. You can also log a service request with EMC Support through your Powerlink account.
Of course, any technical question can be posted to either the Developer Community forum or the Support Forum, and the same members tend to follow both. But please keep in mind that support-type questions will get a faster response in the Support Forums, and it benefits the whole community if discussions of a particular type are colocated in one place, vs. being distributed over two (or more). One caveat is that the Support Forums are only accessible to members with a current Powerlink account.
Messages that not technical in nature, or of interest to a technical audience, should not be posted here and will be removed if reported. These include things like job postings and marketing pitches.
If you’re unsure about which forum to use, you are welcome to post to both forums. Mention that you are asking the question in both forums, and include a link to the other thread. You can also move a thread you have created to another Community if you think it would be more relevant there; e.g. moving a technical thread from the Document Connect Forum to the Documentum Developer Forum. Just click on “Move discussion” in the Actions Menu and select the target community. Note that you must have the necessary privileges to create discussions in the target forum in order to move a discussion there.
Participation in the Documentum Community forums is largely voluntary and primarily comes from Documentum partners and customers. EMC employees do watch this forum to stay in touch with customer concerns but topics are not actively moderated. Any member can use the “Report abuse” action to flag a post, either because it does not comply with the ECN Terms of Use or because the content is not relevant to the forum. The Community Managers will follow up on any reported post and take appropriate action, which may result in the post being moved or deleted.
Always search the forums first before posting your question. Adding your comments or requesting clarification on an existing thread will generally yield faster results than posting an entirely new message.
