Developer Edition 6.6 installation problem

I'm trying to install the Documentum Developer Edition 6.6 and having a problem right away. After I type in my password it starts validating that my computer meets the hardware/software requirements etc... It gets to the point where it checks to see if "Content Storage Services are enabled" and it just stops. I'm running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 if that information helps. What can I do so that the installation finishes?

Can you post the error log which in general will be in your install folder? Did you verify whether windows 7 is officially supported?

It is supported for Windows 7, and there is actually not an error message that comes up. It just gets to that point, and never continues. It doesn't exit or produce an error screen, it just will stay idle at that point indefinitely. I posted the install logs though.

hmm.. there is no information in the error log.. Did you check the Windows event log?

In the event log there were five events that took place in the security log and three in the system log. In the security log it says twice that an account was logged on, once that an account was given special privelages, and twice that an account was logged off. All these events occured at the same time. In the system log it says that the multimedia class scheduler service entered the running state, then Application experience service entered the stopped state, and finally the multimedia class scheduler service entered the stopped state. Those were the only events I could find and directly correlate with the timing of when I tried to install documentum. Does that mean anything to you?

I don't know if anyone else has had this same problem, but I found a solution for my particular case and figured I might as well post it up here just in case. As it turns out, temporarily turning off the firewall for the installation will remedy this problem. I won't claim to know how exactly the firewall interferes with the installation, but as soon as I turned it off, the installation completed successfully.
