404 Error while Previewing

Hi ,

We are using TeamSite6.1 on solaris.

When we select a dcr and click on "Preview" button a datacapture form with filled values is displayed.
When we select a html and click on "Preview" button we get an error "The page cannot be found" and the url in the address bar of the browser is
"http://domainname/iw-cc/command/iw.group.preview_file"

Can any one help to figure out the issue ?

Yes, we have customer web server running on the same machine where TS server is running.
TS webserver is running on the port 5510 whereas customer web server is running on the port 8940.
The doc root of the customer webserver is totally different than the TS web server. Is this the issue ?

Perhaps TS isn't properly configured to look for the customer web server on port 8940 - have you verified the contents of the /etc/iw.cfg (not IWHOME/etc)?
Have you looked in the ..../iwui/error_log file to see if there is any additional information?

I'd go with ccprofesional's suggestion then - run iwproxy in debug mode and see if you can find any additional information about what's going wrong.

For a start - read the section "Debugging Your Proxy Server Configuration" in the TeamSite Administration Guide.
However, that's not very detailed (still worth making sure you've read it though).

Get yourself setup in the UI to perform the desired action
Stop the iwproxy process
Run iwproxy in debug mode, sending the output to a log file
Return to the UI and complete the desired action
Wait a couple of seconds to let STDOUT flush itself, and kill the iwproxy debug process
Examine the output in /var/tmp/iwproxy.dbg

I think that covers the basics (which should be documented in the manual somewhere - but I didn't see it on a quick glance).

Hi,
I had gone thru the documentation.

I stopped "iwproxy" process.
Then I tried to start it as u have given, but it gives following error
"error binding server socket: Address already in use"

What can be the reason ?

Chances are you are failing to complete stop the iwproxy process:> ps -ef | grep iwproxy | grep -v grep

root 7742 7741 0 Jul 11 ? 0:01 /usr/app/iwov/teamsite/bin/iwproxyThe first process is the 'master' process, the second one is the 'slave' process (I could be wrong on my terminology here - but it's probably close enough) If you want to do this all in one fell swoop try:> kill `ps -ef | grep iwproxy | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}'Once that's done, verify that iwproxy is gone by running the first command above (kill and awk parts) - when you're sure it's gone, then run iwproxy in debug mode as previously indicated.

TS can give preview of only DCRs , the preview opens the Datacapture form.

So besides the various spelling errors, someone has managed to install the Apache web server but you don't know if its running.
Who did the installation?
Who's responsible for administering the server?
Who's read the documentation that comes with (or is available on-line from) Apache?

NOTE : I tried 'iwproxy -d' also .

iwproxy -d is only going to show you the debugging from what iwproxy is trying to do in order to send page information from TeamSite to your customer web server - if your customer webserver is down, or not listening on port 81 - it isn't going to help you that much right now.

I think iwproxy is started by the iw.server script - however you can stop/start it yourself by finding the process id and killing it e.g.:

~ > ps -ef | grep iwproxy | grep -v grep
    root  2016     1  0 02:35:48 ?        0:00 /iw-home/bin/iwproxy
    root  2017  2016  0 02:35:48 ?        0:00 /iw-home/bin/iwproxy
~ > kill -9 2016 2017

and running iwproxy from the command line (probably need to put it into the background, don't recall if it forks itself or not) to start it - e.g.:

~ > /iw-home/bin/iwproxy &

If you want to run it in debug mode, it's usually done as:

~ > /iw-home/bin/iwproxy -d 2>&1 > /var/tmp/iwproxy.log
...refresh page, wait a few seconds...
^C
~ >

You should change the following and customer webserver port and http_port should not be the same. I am sure the issue will be resolved immediate.
