Languages supported by DTS 5.3SP3

Hi,

We have a requirement of rendering the documents which are written in different languages to PDF. We use DTS 5.3SP3 for rendition purpose.

Can anyone please let me know the languages which DTS 5.3SP3 supports by default. Also, if we want render the documents other than the languages which are supported by default, how do we proceed.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance.

Are you asking whether DTS does translation (eg English to French)? If so, no. DTS only transforms formats (eg Word to PDF). It doesnt matter if the document is in French or any other language, DTS should be able to transform the format.

Thanks for your reply. We do not want to translate from one language to another. We upload documents in Word, Excel, powerpoint formats whose content is in different languages like Japanese, French, Hindi, Thai, European Portugese etc. These documents should be rendered to PDF. We use the DTS 5.3SP3 for rendering the documents.

My question is, do these documents (content in different languages) gets rendered to PDF using DTS. If so, are there any changes which we need to make in the DTS server to render them?

As suggested, I have moved this discussion to Documentum. Please suggest me if I have moved it to wrong discussion as I do not have any idea regarding this.

- Yes. All DTS does is launches native application and print to PDF file. So the language that the document is written in has no effect on whether rendering occurs or not.

- If you DTS already works for English documents, then I dont see why you would have to reconfigure for other languages. Are you getting errors trying to render to docs written in other languages?

I was under same impresison that PDF rendition doesnot care about the language written in Word file. But while doing testing of one document writte in Hindi in the rendition, the Hindi characters are replaced with english alphbets.

We have Documentum 6.5 SP1 for both CS and DTS. please let me know if anybody knows the reason or settings for this..
