Installation of Content Server in Clustering with Fast Full Text Index Server

Hi All,

We have to install Documentum Content Server in Cluster with FAST Full Text Index Server. As per the note mentioned in Content Server Installation Guide: Fulltext indexing and Documentum Site Caching Services are not supported in installations that use Cluster Services.

Can anyone please suggest if this kind of installation is possible or not. If yes, are there any implications?

Just to get more clarity on your question, can you please tell where it has been mentioned in Content Server Installation Guide?

Clustering content server will not impact Fast Index Server or SCS.

This is mentioned in Content Server Fundamentals Guide Page Number 128-129 Topic - Preinstallation requirements as below

Note:Fulltext indexing and Documentum Site Caching Services are not supported in installations that use Cluster Services.

Please check and let me know so that I can go ahead with my setup process. Also in a new Search Engine xPlore document attached, a topic Administration differences (Page 15)says

High availability —

I need to confirm if the FAST engine supports active/passive.

xPlore supports N+1, active/passive with clusters, and active/active shared data configurations. FAST supports only active/active.

suggest you do not install FAST... it will not be supported from 1st of Jan 2012...

suggest you install xPlore, which is replacing FAST

If Microsoft Cluster Services has been installed in a server, you should not install Fast Index Server or SCS on the same server.

Fast supports only active/active clustering. xPlore supports active/passive and active/active clustering.
