xCP Developer Edition 6.6 - Repository error

I've installed xCP Developer Edition in a VMware:

Windows 2008 Datacenter Edition SP1.

and later on a

Windows 2008 Enterprise Edition SP2.

The installation finish with no error, but there's no repository created (and no repository service) and if I run the documentum Master Service, it finish with a repository error code 2.

I turned off the Firewall before the installation, and it's a clean VMware.

I've checked all the logs, but there's no error in any install step...

Any suggestion?

I do exacly same and get exactly the same probelm. Seems to install but no repository created error in logs.

Docbroker is running.

Now going back to Version 1.0 to see if I can get that to work.

I think that the issue is Password Policy on the server because exactly same thing happened with XCP 1.0

I changed the Password policy complexty settings in:

Open Group Policy Management Console (Start / Run / GPMC.MSC)

Then dig into the "Computer Configuration", "Windows Settings", "Security Settings", "Account Policies",

and modify the password complexity requirements setting - disable

The repository is now there and its running ok - I'm doing more tests.

Is it possible to have the log file which contains the error?

My log file on the install had this in it it - so when it tries to load that docbase template in - it fails. The password I think is something like documentum-l - which is no good for the complexty requirements. My install is fine now. Doing another one now

Hi Davy,

I can execute the GPMC, but I'm not a domain user account, so I can't see anythink in GPMC...

I do think you need to be admin on the box and if the server is in the domain - you need to change the GPO.. sorry I cant be more help - I had to ask my domain admin to change it and he was most upset

I tried to install the product with Administrator user, executing with the "run as administrator" ... same result.

Attached the log files, with a strange error message.

1. Navigate to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
The Local Security Settings dialog box appears.

2. Navigate to Security Settings > Account Policies > Password Policy.

3. Right-click Password must meet complexity requirements and select Properties.

4. In the Local Security Setting dialog box, select Disabled and then click OK.

And all the installation with no error :-)

@rodriguez_luis, are you indicated that you had to re-install xCP Dev Edition after you went through the above steps to remove the complex password policy? I am having the same issue (i.e. my Documentum Master Service stops soon after stopping, seeing traceback on the Method Server, the 4 documentum services won't stay on after starting etc.)

I thought my problem might be due to the complex password policy, so I disabled it per your instructions but am not seeing an improvement.

I was working with "clean VM" (only OS) so I tried from scratch, no uninstall and reinstall ...

I suppose that you have to uninstall 100% DCTM install, and start again with the change in the complex password policy.

Goodness, must have installed Windows 2008 Standard/Enterprise/Datacenter with xCP 1.5 atleast 10 times in 2 days. I was using pretty good password, but only after disabling the complexity it worked.

Thanks Luis for updating the thread with the solution.

xCP installation guide should make a note of this constraint. (an un updated User Account- UAC disabling option for 2008 R2 edition)
