DFS UCFContentTransfer example, missing Emc.Documentum.FS.Runtime.Ucf

Found the dll in https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-3501 but it is still early access technology and requires changes on the server side also. Supposable a version will be released with 6.7. Very annoying that the standard sdk includes examples that use this dll.

using emc-dfs-sdk-6.5_sp3.zip, trying to build a .net Desktop app. Can not find the reference "Emc.Documentum.FS.Runtime.Ucf" which is used in example

UCFContentTransfer and also mentioned in doc UCF client for .NET + DFS integration

It appears that this has been dropped from .Net.

It still exist in java world

UCF.NET is officially supported since DFS 6.7 only. Please transfer to 6.7. The 6.7 SDK also provides desktop app sample and web app sample for using UCF.NET.

Moving to latest version (6.7) is not always an option even if the technology you want is in that version. Client had already invested a lot of time an effort on 6.6 stack

Hi,

I am trying to use UCF.net for getting the JSessionID and UCF id. It works fine when we use .Net Framework 3.5. The moment i start using .Net Framework 4.0, It throws the error.

"InstallerTraceSource Critical: 100 An error occurred while verifying the application. A runtime has already been bound for legacy activation policy use."

Anybody has any idea about this?

This is the expected behavior. .NET 4.0 is not supported by UCF. You have to install 3.5SP1 separately.

Thanks for this. We are facing issues with .NET 4.0 and UCF as well. Your note on supportability of UCF on .NET 3.5 SP1 and NOT on .NET 4.0 clarifies to a certain extent as why we are seeing issues. Before we re-build our DFS .NET client on .NET 3.5SP1, wanted to clarify that the following error that we are seeing is indeed due to unsupportability with .NET and there are no other issues that we should be aware of.

We have generated the proxy for our service using the DFS Proxy Generation Tool (please see screenshot). And that works just fine.

But then when we invoke the service using our DFSWrapperClient which we have built using .NET 4.0, we get the error on trying to import a document using a content transfer mode of UCF. Is the below expected with .NET 4.0 or are we looking at a different issue? Quick response from you experts will really help us get this resolved.

Guys -

We rebuilt our .NET DFS client code on .NET 3.5 SP1. That fixed the UCF issues that we were seeing. Hope this experience others as well, just like yours has helped us.
