Workflow subject

Hi Experts,

User's inbox doe's not display subject of the task instead it displays task name.
For example, there is a task with name Activity-1 and with subject Review,
when the user receives the task they see Activity-1 instead of Review.
Could you help me to figure out what is wrong?

Task Subject is NOT one of the display columns for Task Manager. I think its listed if you actually click on the task and view its details. If you want to list the subject in the Task Manager, you will need to customize this component.

as Johny said user see the activity name in his Inbox. To avoid this we give names with meanings to manual activities.

The activity name can contain only 32 chars and this is not enough to give a meaningfull name.

I can't understand why the inbox manager's column name is subject instead of name. Also the activity subject is not displayed anywhere.I could find requirements .

correct, but it was enough for us, for Example Activity name Revision, task instructions = how to do it and why. Of course we had situations when we need longer name, but we tried to minimize activity name. It is correct that activity name is short, because as developers we use it very often and it will be difficult to use it in the code if it has more than 32 characters.

Well, first of all task subject is 512 char long. Try displaying this across frame. Even if you did decide to customize inbox and display task subject, you just decreased the amount of inbox tasks that you can display without scrolling. Have full the task subjec may seem intuitive for users when they first start using the system, but in reality after the users have gotten accustomed to the tasks being assigned, they will only read the first few words of the activity before clicking on the actual tasks. Hence activity name of 32 chars was design choice.

As for the subject not appearing, it works for me. What version of CS and Webtop are you using?

I am using content server 6.6 and webtop 6.6.The problem is that we don't have bpm and I have to use workflow manager.

But please look at this pictures.I can't see the text I have typed in the subject .I it is not anywhere.Also there are two columns one task name and the other subject. I guess the text should be displayed in place of subject.

In inbox2.gif, where is the description value coming from (near the top)? This should be task subject.

It works as expected using PB/PE. Did you customize Inbox task manager component? If not, it might be a bug.

You might also want to let your customer know that it wouldnt surpise me if EMC stops supporting WFM in very near future. Its been around for almost 10 yrs now. All the new features that make workflow powerful have only been implemented in PB, not WFM.

Hi Johnny,

Description comes from workflow name.It is the workflow name Vocation Request (of course in our language) and start day of the workflow.

And I have not made any customizations just added task_name and some other columns with column preferences.

As you can see I can't give a meaning to the subject field in wf manager and the subject column in wf inbox.

That is task subject for Process Builder - see the values I assigned for the form.
