TBO Protected Methods Definition details

I have to extend cancelcheckout action, is there any docancelcheckout protected method, where i can write my logic and i will execute whenevr the cancelcheckout is cliked from the webtop.

if the protected method is not there, writng a custom method in tbo and calling from webtop (by wdk customization) is the right approach? or any other approach?

And also i had seen many 'signature of methods' in the dfc development guide, like doXXX, but

1.when are those called?

2.in what order? and

3.any method calls internally another method (doxx -> doXX)?

where to get these info.? any guide or pdf?

please help in figuring out above things.

i am using version 6.5 sp2

you can make use of that code in your TBO for checkin.

Also you can find informtaion in DFC Development Guide and in DFC Java Docs also EMC offers Dfc programming training program which can be very helpful.

the doXX methods are provided for you to hook into... You should not extend methods which do not start with "do".

To add to Brian's comments, by extending non "do" methods, you are running the risk that if EMC changes internal implementation, it could cause your code to fail during an upgrade.

i think i cant use docheckin, bcoz my requirement is like whenever user tries to cancel check out, i (the code) has to unlock the document (on behalf of with superuser privileges) bcoz user will not have rights to unlock the file.

so i thought if there is some thing like docancelcheckout(), i can use of

- I havent seen this published anywhere. Your best bet is to put println in your doMethods and follow the path of what methods are called for specific events.

I haven't seen this published anywhere. I put together a little TBO a while back that did a lot of tracing of the "do" methods. What I found was that the "do" methods did not nest (i.e., they did not call each other). I think there was an example of this tracing in the Component Exchange a while ago. It might still be there.
