Taskspace Invoke Action Button

Hi,

I created a custom action to start a process with selected object in the taskspace application and in the forms builder I am creating a task component with an invoke button - Request for Document

I configured this invoke button to call the action to invoke a process. Now my requirement is after i invoke the process by clicking the Request for Documents button, I need to close the task and come back to my tasklist page.

Its like on the task page i have this button - Request for Documents, when user clicks it the process should start in the background, the task page gets closed and the user should come back to the tasklist page.

I do i configure the invoke button like this.

From this log we see that one precondition return false so the action will not be enabled. So, check what preconditions are configured and verify that all are satisfied.

Without knowing what those preconditions are, I can only guess, so, here are two guesses:

Is the process (4bde75d1800070ba) installed?
Does the user have access to the process (what acl is applied to 4bde75d1800070ba and what access does the user have?)

Hi Rajesh,

If I understand you correctly and you want to do this:

On an open task form, upon returning from an action invoked through an invoke button auto-close the task (but not finish it).

Then there is no easy way to achieve that through an invoke button.

If it is ok to finish the task you could have some UI control (say a dropdown) with options like "Request Documents" or "Approve" or whatever you need and then through a decision split afterwards do different things in your process depending on the value chosen by the user.

If you describe your use case a bit it is possible that someone could come up with a another workaround.

Thanks for responding.

Your understanding is correct. But when you say that its not easy then in that case when i click the Request for Documents invoke button can i just open a form with some status message as "Request sent successfully" with a close button that can close the task?

Also in the task form i am using a folder view control to list the case subfolders and documents. When i actually open the task in TaskSpace, I see 2 labels as:

Instructions: Place instructions here

and in the bottom i see the subfolder listed. ( Please see attached screenshot folderview1.jpg)

How do i hide these labels and show just the subfolders.

Also just as in the Grants Management application, they have merged, embedded 2 forms i.e., the Grant Request Folder Form is embedded into the Grant Manager Task Form. Similarlly how would I merge another form in the place showing the above instructions?

Can you please help me with approach and steps if possible.

You can also point me to documentation if any.

Refer to the TaskSpace Configuration Guide and Forms Builder user guides for details.

Also in the task form i am using a folder view control to list the case subfolders and documents. When i actually open the task in TaskSpace, I see 2 labels as:

What are you seeing is a folder info form. You can either remove it completely on the Special tab on the Folder View control in forms builder as shown below.

Alternatively you can associate another folder info form with the type of the folder for the role within Taskspace as shown below (this also answers your second question regarding the Task form from the grants sample application).

Thank you very much for the response.

I created a invoke button in the task form and calling an action that i created to start a process with selected object. I created a landing process form in forms builder. But in the taskspace i see the invoke button is disabled.

What i wanted to do is, after i land in the task form in taskspace and when i click the invoke button the process form should be shown and the case folder should go automatically as a package to the process that I am invoking.

Can please help me on this also.

I have done every step thats listed as per the documentation but i still see the invoke button disabled.

Good Morning.

I am still struggling to get the process invoke button work :-(

This is what I am trying to achieve:

A high-fidelity form gets submitted throught one of the following means - Email, FTP, Online Using HTTP. A case folder needs to be created and the submitted form needs to be linked to the created case folder.

I created a process with 2 packages

1. formpackage - xml instance of the hi-fi form

2. folderpackage - custom folder type

I am successfully able to create case folder and link the submitted form to the folder.

Next, the case folder gets routed to manager workqueue and one of the manager picks the task and assigns it to an officer - this step is achieved.

Next, the officer gets the task and in the task form i am trying to provide a process invoke button to start another process with the case folder as package.

For this I created a action in taskspace of type start process with selected object. In the forms builder i have a invoke button control and calling the action i created in taskspace. I am passing the paramenter as Activity/ProcessData/Packages/FolderPackage/DocumentId.

This is where the problem is, When i log in to taskspace as officer, I am seeing the Invoke button disabled and i am not sure what the reason is. I checked the folder permission and the role permission and they are all setup properly. In the officer task form, i using the FolderDataView to display the folder content.

I hope you understood my requirement and issue and hope you can help me on this..

Hi Rajesh,

There can be many reasons for your invoke button being disabled, for example:

A required argument is missing
A required argument is incorrect or of wrong type.
The action does not exist within the context (role, type, location, etc).

Without knowing the details I cannot say for sure. What you can do however is enable tracing of the actionservice for your session (wdk/tracing.jsp) which might give you insight into what the cause is. You can refer to the WDK development guide for details on how to do that.

Hi Tord,

I enabled tracing in wdk/tracing.jsp for ActionService and for the currect login user. I restarted the app server.

but i don't see any trace logged in the trace.log file in C:|documentum\logs\trace.log file

I even enabled tracing options in TraceProp.property file as

com.documentum.web.formext.Trace.ACTIONSERVICE=true

but still the trace.log file is 0KB only with no data.

is there any setting that I need to do in dfc.properties file?

The log messages for WDK tracing will be in the Taskspace log, or whatever you defined in your log4j.properties in taskspace/WEB-INF/classes.

For your questions,

the process is installed

the user have access to the process and have relate permission.

But what i figured out is the client capability is not setup correctly for the user to invoke the process

I am not sure if the place i looked is correct. But please tell me this, I created a advanced action in taskspace of type "Start the specified process with the selected objects" and gave a name as "myaction_to_start_process"

Now if want to look for the action definition and preconditions for my action where should i look at? - (location for the action xml file)

I owe you alot of thanks and appreciation for helping me on this..

Ideally one question per thread to facilitate searching for other people.

The action id of the "Start the specified process with the selected objects" is ts_startworkflowfromdoc which you can see on the action configuration screen.

Now, to find the action connected with this id, you can just search for this string in the taskspace.war/taskspace/config folder. You'll see two files and the action definition is in one of them, in this one:

taskspace.war\taskspace\config\actions\dm_sysobject_actions.xml

And as you point out, there is a client capability precondition defined therein:

<preconditions>  ...  <precondition>    <role>contributor</role>   </precondition></preconditions>
