Is there a web service for notifications?

We have a client that uses this Documentum e-room and they drop files into a particular folder. We are trying to automate the process of bringing them into our SharePoint portal.

Does Documentum have web services for notifaction files or a possible way to know when these files are added programatically? I am trying to add these files to a list in Sharepoint automatically.

I tried the email notification, but that would be hit and miss with the strings.
