From the Tagging UI, I would like to call an .ipl file (easy). Trick is the .ipl file is to be written in perl, but should instantiate a java class. Is this possible, and second, would someone have a syntax example they could share?

Yes,from ipl file u can call a java program.

$command1= "java -classpath c:\\SAP-TS Hello";
$output = `$command1 2>&1`; #this is running the command

Even u can pass the name of jars and parameter also after the program name

$command1="java -classpath c:\\SAP-TS;c:\\SAP-TS\\activation.jar; Hello Nidhi";

Why go through all this trouble. If you are using TeamSite 6.1 or 6.5, you can just write the Java code as a servlet/JSP to accomplish this much easier and faster. Is that an option?
