TS Search: how does language dropdown work?
RonaldV
Hi all,
has anybody of you managed to understand the deeper meaning of the language dropdown in the Advanced Search screen?
No docs, written and delivered as part of the release by Iwov, can be found on this subject (suprise).
I got a local-language site but when searching with language=en I get much more results returned then with the local language?
Kind of strange isn't it?
What/how/why does the search-engine determine what language the file is in?
But more important, how can I completely ignore this dropdown or at least have a 'any-language'-option added to it?
Tha, Ronald

By its nature, textual information is language-specific. The words, sentences, paragraphs, and documents that make up a body of knowledge are expressed only within the context of one or more human languages. The fundamental building blocks for thoseexpressions—characters and symbols—are numerous and highly specific to individual writing systems.
The language specific search features are:
Case sentivity
Tokenization
Stop Words
Stemming
Normalization
Compound words
Part-of-speech
Number handling
Accent-Insensitive (a might return a, à, á, and â.)
Synonym Search
Soundex Search
