Metadata DCT - Callout

vanesh

Hi All,

Environment : Teamsite 6.1 SP2 / Solaris

Iam using a cgi-callout in the Metadata DCT for an element. Iam explaning the steps below how i get an error :
1) The user press the callout button on the DCT.
2) The callout form is opened.
3) The user selects a value and press DONE button. When the user press the DONE button i get a javascript error : and when i looked the detailed error i see something like this :

Line : 15
char: 5
Error: 'singleedit' is undefined
Code: 0

So can any one help me on this. Thanks in advance.

Vanesh

you are not providing nearly enough information

do you have MetaTagger installed ?

If not, this is the wrong forum, you should post this to the TeamSite forum.

Also, post you datacapture.cfg.

is this consistent for all users and systems, or just one ?

Can you post metadata on any type of file ?

hi,

i have metatagger 3.6 installed but iam not using any vocab, keywords. Just using only the Metatadata DCT to capture metadata during the workflow. The user have to fill some metadata manually. The workflow is used to tag only DCR's. In the Metadatac DCT iam calling a cgi-callout as shown below :

Test Category

Category

<text required="f" size="50" maxlength="1000">
<cgi-callout label="Selct a category" url="/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/example_datacapture_callout.ipl/options.txt" window-features="width=800,height=600,resizable=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,status=yes" />
</text>

And after investingating on the javascript error, i also find that the error is related to the calling form name. I mean in the example_datacapture_callout.ipl. I have used : my $form_name = $cgi->{'form'}{'iw_form_name'};

And in one of the javacript function i use something like this : var calloutForm = eval($form_name); So the error is with the form_name variable, which is 'singleedit'. Which causes the javascriopt error ?

I have attached the example_datacapture_callout.ipl (this file is an example from Teamsite)

From the file you posted, it looks like you're running TS 6.1 - yes?

I'm not sure if the sample callout files were updated for changes made to the form variables provided by TeamSite - try making the following change to your specification and see if that helps at all:

<cgi-callout label="Selct a category" url="/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/wdpro_menu.ipl/example_datacapture_callout.ipl/options.txt" window-features="width=800,height=600,resizable=no,toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,status=yes" />

Fish : i tried the way you suggested but still i did not work. I also modified the example_datacapture_callout.ipl with the following changes :

1) my $form_name = 'opener.'. $cgi->{'form'}{'iw_form_name'};
2) and also commented out this line --> //opener.top.datacapture.refreshForm();

After making these changes also i have problem getting the form_name :
var calloutForm = eval($form_name); ----> the output of the form_name is blank ?
if i view source the callout page i see something like --> var calloutForm = eval(opener.);

So i don't understand why the form_name variable is empty ?

Please let me know if there is any issues with this. I have attached the example_datacapture_callout.ipl.

From another thread I posted on earlier today:

Your issue might be related.

I never had to change anything in the CGI callouts that are invoked from the (M)DCTs. Only 'custom menu items', IMO have been affected....

If your callouts on the metadata capture form *only* referred to a single field - the field associated with the callout - then you wouldn't have run into any problems and wouldn't have any need for the patch.

If your callouts on the metadata capture form tried to reference multiple fields and/or tried to reference the path/name of the file being tagged - then you would have run into problems and would need the patch.

AFAIK there are no patches for 6.1 that fix this feature of MDCT. The original poster said it was 6.1

Thanks for ur inputs !!

As FISH mentioned it was not possible to reference multiple fields by path/name. But i found an alternative solution for this. The solution is to refere the fields by index and not by path/name !! You can see below how i implemented .

function set_datacapture_item_value(dep_value,fdo_value) {
// set the value of a field in the datacapture
if ((window.opener == null) || (window.opener.closed)) {
return false;
}
//var calloutForm = eval($form_name);
var calloutForm = eval('opener.document.$form_name');
if (!calloutForm) {
return false;
}
var calloutElementFound = false;
for ( i = 0 ; i < calloutForm.elements.length ; i++ ) {
if (calloutForm.elements.name == '$element_name') {
calloutForm.elements.value = dep_value;
calloutForm.elements[i+1].value = fdo_value;
calloutForm.elements[i+2].focus();
calloutElementFound = true;
break;
}
}
if (!calloutElementFound) {
return false;
}
return true;
}

Hope this might be useful for people how are working with Teamsite version 5.x & 6.1
