Inconsistent JVM in TeamSite 6.1
Bill Klish
TeamSite 6.1 SP1
Solaris 2.8
TeamSite 6.1
RedHat Linux 3.0
We have just installed a linux teamsite server for working on extending content center. However, the JVM on the linux server is:
java version "1.4.2_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_03-b02, mixed mode)
while the JVM on our solaris (eventual target server) is:
java version "1.3.1_10"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_10-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_10-b03, mixed mode)
For things to work, we will have to develop in Java 1.3.1_10 for code to be compatible in both platforms.
Why are the JVMs different for the same product release number?

The TeamSite 6.1 Linux version was ported somewhere in between releasing TS 6.1 and TS 6.5. We ended up re-using some parts of the new codebase from TeamSite 6.5 for the TS 6.1 Linux port. The TeamSite 6.5 version ships with Java 1.4.2 and since we were shipping a new version of the product, we decided to ship with the newer JVM and newer codebase. We would not do that if it were just a Service Pack or patch to an existing version unless the circumstances really dictated it..
I hope this makes sense
thanks
