can anyone help me where can I find documentation for methods on IDfSysObject (DfDocument), IDfFolder (DfFolder)?

IDfSysObject (DfDocument):

doRefreshReference()

IDfFolder (DfFolder):

onLink()

onUnlink()

When they are called?

In Documentum Foundation Classes Development Guide is are only mentioned Java signatures for the methods. There is nothing about them in javadoc. But what they are there for?

Can EMC provide some better source of information for the BOF development?

You should find the DFC java docs under this location (default) - C:\Program Files\Documentum\help\dfc\api

You are correct Vladmir that not everything is documented. May I suggest you create a TBO for each type,extend the desired methods and include print statements. This way you can see which methods are fired when you perform various actions (eg move or link a file).

Those methods aren't documented in the API Javadoc because they are not public methods for everyone to use.

The only documented methods are the actual save(), link(), unlink(), checkin()... methods that are described in the interfaces of the BOF classes (IDfDocument, IDfSysObject, IDfFolder,...).

How the implementations (DfDocument, DfSysObject, DfFolder) handle those methods is of no interest of people using the DFC API.

It is only of interest when you do BOF development (not for every DFC developer, but only for the people implementing the Documentum platform).

And even for these people it is not necessary to add them in the Javadoc because the names are so straightforward and easy-to-get.

unlink() => override doUnlink()

...
