Combo box.. an additional SPACE shown- option list

Hi,
I have a strange problem with the datacapture.cfg file. I included below code for showing a combo box. But whn this one is opened thru Teamsite, in the option list of the combo box, there is one Extra space is shown as one of the option(item) list.
Note Smiley Frustrated

ame problem exists for all the combo boxes in the same cfg file.
Could some one give solution for it?
Pls find the attached image for more info.

You call it a combo box - which, to me, implies a multi-select list - however the code snippet you posted shows a drop-down single-select list by virtue of the size="1".

If you want a multi-select list, you need to set the size attribute to something other than "1" (I believe "5" is pretty standard) and you'd want to also set multiple="t" (without the latter, you would have a [potentially] scrolling list allowing only a single selection.

Okay - then your calling it a "combo box" is somewhat misleading / confusing.

I believe TeamSite automatically inserts a blank selection as the first choice in all drop-down select lists in order to allow the de-selection of *any* option - so what you are experiencing is as-designed-behavior and you would either have to use FormAPI to remove the blank entry (as Nicholas indicated) and/or file a feature request with Support (and eventually it may get addressed).

Actually.. seeing that we are correcting ourselves.. neither are a combo box.

It's either a drop down list or a multi select list.

A combo box is a combination of a text field with a dropdown list so that you can enter something manually if the list does not contain the entry you need.

TeamSite (and HTML forms for that matter) does not support combo boxes - though plenty of people have come up with interesting ways to achieve this with a little javascript and css.

try making the item as required="t" . it will remove the first space. Even if you will try using the form API it will not work and infact it will remove the first option which you dont want.
