How to Debug WFT Files

Hi ALL,

I debug WFT files by creating a File and writing to that file at some particular points like System.out.println in JAVA Language.

Please tell me any other suitable methods to debug WFT files.

According to my understanding iw_debug_mode and iw_output_file are used to debug instantiation form not the WFT file as whole.

Iam asking for WFT file as whole.

There are several different aspects of WFT debugging.

First, as already has been mentioned, the iw_debug_mode and iw_output_file settings - which allow you to verify the instantiation of the WFT into a job description file (useful for making sure that variables and conditional code are expanded correctly).

Second, as you mentioned in your original post, the ability to print things out into a debugging log file - using embeded Perl code for receiving print() and/or printf() output (useful for making sure that embeded code is working correctly despite being processed multiple times during instanatiation)

Third, the debugging of externaltask and cgitask scripts - although most often written in Perl, these can be written in other programming languages as well, and you'd have to make use of the appropriate debugging techniques for the language in which the scripts are written.

If you think you need some other form of debugging that isn't (or you believe isn't) covered by one of the above - please elaborate on your concern.
