I am using teamsite 6.5

I have explained my scenario below

I want to do News Management Module in the my project with features like add edit and view of news with certain features for users based on their access rights.

In adding data the user is allowed to add only one news at a time,whenever they add a news, every news should go and append the existing xml news data .But so far i saw in interwoven teamsite forms,Everytime it creates a new xml.If a use the same name for xml it go and overwrites the existing data.So my previous data is lost.

Then View page is another feautre ,

Inside the teamsite i need to show all the news added so far based on the user name or user id. If i edit a news only the news that i am going to edit
should show on the edit form.

I have this problem bcos in forms, we can add multiple news at the same time which is appended to a xml .I want to do in the reverse way, the user have to add only one news at a time and it should go and append the same news xml file.

I dont know whether this can be done with in Interwoven.Lets say if it cannot be done if i am doing this one as External Application, does the interwoven allows to do version control,workflow and all the features available to my external application also.Is it easy to Integrate and which one is the best way

If you consider the collective "news.xml" as one data-type and the individual "news_item.xml" as another - the save, preview, and/or generate process for news_item could append its contents to the collective (news). Generate would probably be the best time to do this - allowing preview to render the new item by itself and then, when satisfied have the generate function perform the merging of the new item into the collective and then perform the generation of the full "news.xml" (the news_item PT could invoke an iwgen (or iwpt_compile.ipl) of the, full, news data.)

You'd still have to build out the rest of the design / implementation to deal with how to remove news items and such - though continuing my thinking off the top of my head here - if the news DCR was comprised of *references* to news_items DCRs - you could override the OOTB Delete functionality such that whenever a news_item was deleted that the collective would be edited to remove the reference to that individual news_item. The PT for the news (collective) would be responsible for iterating through all the DCRs referenced to output the final HTML page desired.

It's not really using an external application - but a sense of being a bit more creative in your use of the existing application in a way that, while not OOTB, is still within the realm of supported.

(at least that's my early-morning view of what you've asked about)

Yes you can do that.
lets say by creating all the news snippets separately as a datatype A then when you are ready to make everything live you can have datatype B which would aggregate all DCR's from datatype A as replicant instances and save and publish the entire record as one news story.

You could probably do this with FormAPI replicant handlers and a hidden field that is provided an initial value either on form initialization or whenever the first replicant is added.
